Pre-season is a time of year that holds significant importance for rugby players. It is feared by many as a brutal period of training that pushes individuals to their absolute limits and exposes deficiencies that they never knew they had, or, perhaps, that they knew they had and pre-season exposes them to the world.
At Okahandja Highlanders will kick start the season on the 10th of January 2024, in Okahandja. The Pre-season training will be focused on a strict program to prepare the players for the year of Rugby. This program is designed into two parts. A 4-week program, before the start of the Regional competitive season. Another 3-week program after the Regional competition. The main areas that it will develop are:
- Hypertrophy (Gym & Bodyweight)
- Strength
- Power
- Aerobic fitness
- Anaerobic fitness
