In 2021 the Okahandja Highlanders were formed, with its foundation built on the development of the sport of Rugby and creating a safe platform for players to grow and become Rugby ready. The Club officially registered to be part of the Namibian Domestic League in 2023 for the first time and registered 62 players on the roster.

We value the support of the community and are proud of our ongoing successes. We are proud of the opportunities we provide for the young players of Highlanders Rugby Club and we strive to provide pathways for them to achieve their goals. Our Club continues to encourage all our members to compete at the highest possible levels. Every year we have a significant number of players to select from in representing the Club. Our staff are also encouraged to expand their horizons.

In 2023 the senior Women’s section was added to the Club’s portfolio, to grow the Women’s game in our Town as well as the surrounding Regions, and introduce a Women’s team into the League in 2024 or 2025. With promotions currently under way to attract female players, through our social platforms as well as print media, (posters, ads), the Club is anticipating attracting 25 female players in the second season of its existence and registering in the Women’s League Competition.
